Overall Objectives
This practical, experientially based workshop will
enable participants to develop skills and confidence
to approach problem solving and decision making which
would culminate in the most effective result being attained.
Specific Objectives
- Develop a systematic approach to problem solving
and making appropriate and effective decisions.
- Develop the necessary skills required to analyse
the actual cause of the problem.
- Devise the most effective plan to solve the problem.
- Improve their ability to communicate the process
and the action to the appropriate stakeholders
Content
- Exploring different approaches to problem solving
- Formulating a personal problem solving and decision
making process
- Examining factors influencing decision making
- Exploring possible reasons for bad decisions
- Assessing a decision’s effectiveness
Outcomes
Participants will have:
- The skill and confidence to approach problem solving
and decision making, which would culminate in the
most effective result being attained.
- A problem-solving process that could be applied/adapted
to various problems and challenging situations.
Target Audience
This workshop could be conducted for any level of staff,
but works more effectively if all participants are of
the same or similar grading.
Methodology
- Learning is evolved experientially through the utilisation
of numerous practical exercises.
- This includes the formulation of a personal and
appropriate approach process.
- The necessary skills are developed by simulated
skill practices, evaluation and feedback.
- Other learning methods used include lecturettes
and group discussions.
