TIME
MANAGEMENT
Introduction
There are only so many hours in a day. We may prolong
these hours outside of our work time, but there could
never be more hours in any one day. Thus, the unending
challenge of managing our time in the most effective
way. This is always relative to the ability to make
decisions and choices and act in accordance with them. It is the ability to act rather than be acted upon,
to proactively carry out the programme or priorities
that we have set for ourselves.
Overall Objectives
During this module we will examine the most practical
and effective ways to best manage our time given the
environment in which we operate.
Specific Objectives
- Understand that this vicious cycle of bad time
management can be dealt with proactively.
- Exploring the priorities and testing the value they
add to the organisation
- Understanding the challenge of saying ‘no.’
- Learn how to become a self manager
Content
- Assess your current level of time management.
- Explore the benefits for you, the individual and
the organisation.
- Examine the urgent and the important quadrants that
drive where we place our energies.
- Learn how to effectively beat the crisis management
through a preventative approach – effective
planning.
- Be involved in analysing the areas you need to focus
on and commit to ways of doing it differently.
Outcomes
Participants will:
- Have a clear understanding of the competency requirements
- Have “tools” and processes to facilitate
the development of the skill of effective Time Management

First time managers, middle management, supervisors
and team leaders
Methodology
In this Module, we will make use of lecturettes, self
assessments, small group discussions and Learning Logs
– action plans.
