Trustees Training provides the user with the necessary
skills and knowledge to confidently direct, control
and oversee the managing of a retirement fund. The module
teaches the user to successfully perform the role of
Trustee to a retirement fund, enabling him/her to direct,
control and oversee the running of the fund on behalf
of the members.
The module introduces the user to the Fund role players,
the rules of the Fund, the payment of benefits, investment
strategy, the procedure for the amalgamation of Funds
and the Pension Funds Act amongst other topics. It can
also function to enlighten employees / fund members as
to the workings of their pension funds and make them
aware of the options available.

This module will help you:
- List the duties of the various role-players and
matters such as election procedures and board composition.
- Explain the implications of amending the Rules of
the fund.
- Outline the objective of trustees when settling
a death claim.
- Explain the importance of adequate communication
with fund members.
- Find investment strategies that preserve the fund’s
long-term needs.
- Ensure that members’ interests are taken care
of should there be an amalgamation or termination
of the fund.
